After that In phase 2 wolves feed on mice and the population of them begin to increase while the population of mice begin to shrink. In phase3, there are only a few mice now and a lot of wolves. The wolves have no food to eat. Their population begins to decline after the population of mice begins to increase. Then the second group of leaf-cutter ants on the group will cut those leafs into small pieces so it’s easier to carry back to the nest. And the third group will carry those leafs back from trails to nests. It can also prevent ants from getting exhausted from all the work they need to do.

5.      (02/01/2015)

Reading:Ecosystem Reliance

Due to natural disaster or human activities, the ecosystem will be damaged. If there are only limited species in an area, once damaged, the environment of the earth will be changed forever. If there are varieties of species, nature has self-healing ability, which is known as ecosystem reliance.

Listening

The professor gives an example of fish and plant to further illustrate this.

Due to the serious pollution, all the fish in this area died out. These fish fed on certain kind of plants. When thefish died, the plants are supposed to grow out of control. However, that was not the case. The reason was that this place had many other species, which maintained the balance of the ecosystem.
