一．考试总体概述：

本次考试独立任务第一个是三选一，考察了学习效率的话题，第二个比第一个略难，考察的是人们的穿着问题，可能大家对这个问题不是很熟悉。如下是对今天各个题目进行的回忆以及解析。

二．题目解析：

Task1：Which of the following three activities is important for you to study effectively?

A. studying alone with books

B. discussing with friends

C. researching and writing assignments

教师解析：下列三个活动中，哪个对你而言在有效学习的方面是重要的？A.自己看书学习；B.与朋友讨论；C.做研究和写作业；

学习问题是大家不陌生的话题，三个选项也都中规中矩，在平常的练习中应该都有涉及。A、B两项可以借用个人VS团队的思路，比如自己学习的话可以更专注高效，且从长远来看还能提升独立思考的能力；和朋友一起讨论（teamwork）的好处是可以超越个人能力的界限，形成合力（synergy），更快地解决问题；C项可以想想研究和写作业的好处，比如这两项可以帮助我们提升对知识的掌握程度，运用起来更加得心应手，进而就可以提升学习效率了。

Sample Answer：

Studying alone with books is a good way for me to study effectively. First, I’m easy to be distracted when studying together with others. Every time when I’m in a group, I can’t help chatting with others. You know, it’s a waste of time, because I’ll forget all the tasks I have to do, and just focus on chatting. Also, from the long-term, studying alone will help me become a person with independent thought. This is quite important for me, because I’ll gain a master’s degree in the America. And thinking independently is a basic skill for masters, as they are required to do research and draw their own special conclusions.

Task2：Some people think it is important to wear in a fashionable way, others think it is unnecessary to wear fashionable, which one do you prefer and why?

教师解析：有人认为穿着时尚是重要的，有人认为没必要穿着时尚。穿着时尚可以跟上潮流，人们也许会因此而更加自信；相反的，为了追时尚，可能也需要花费一些钱。大家可以多从自身的方面出发，想想对自己来说穿着时尚有什么好处，不时尚又有什么好处。

Sample Answer：

I don’t think it’s necessary for people to wear fashionable. And there are two reasons for this. First, compared with wearing fashionable, wearing comfortable is more important for me. Wearing fashion items like high heels makes me feel uncomfortable and tired, because I can’t walk and stand for a long time in those shoes, or my feet will get hurt. What’s more, wearing fashionable will cost me a lot. You know, fashion isn’t fixed; instead, it is changing all the time. So, in order to keep up with it, you need to buy new fashionable clothes and accessories every month or season. And the price for these new products won’t be favorable.

Task 3:

Reading:

The school requires all the students in the Art Department should be involved in the new program which is held in the coming fall term, meaning students should go off campus to watch dramas in the theater center.

Reason: This can help students have a better understanding of art

Action: The school will charge each student with $35.

Listening：

Man agrees.

Reason 1: The learning method is too simple. What they really should do is to watch the performance of the actors, feel the atmosphere and imagine themselves as a part of the play.

Reason 2: When it comes to money, he doesn’t think should be a problem. The school will make all the arrangements, and the ticket price is quite cheap compared with the market price.

Task 4： Ecology

Reading: ecosystem reliance（生态系统的可靠性）

Due to natural disaster of human activities, the ecosystem will be damaged. If there are only limited species in an area, once damaged, the environment of the earth will be changed forever. If there are varieties of species, the nature has self-healing ability, which is known as ecosystem reliance.

Listening： The professor uses the example of fish and plant.

Due to the serious pollution, all the fish in an area died out. These fish fed on certain kind of plants. When fish died, the plants were supposed to grow out of control. However, that was not the case.

The reason was that this place had many other species, which maintained the balance of the ecosystem. If the species are limited, the plants will certainly grow out of control and change the local environment.

Task 5：

Problem：The guy who is supposed to come and install Internet doesn’t show up. The time will be rescheduled to tomorrow afternoon, but the woman has already planned to go to movies with her friends.

Solution 1：Ask her roommate to stay tomorrow afternoon. Her roommate has a review session to attend. Although it is not a required course, she feels that it is important to take the class because it is important for her test.

Solution 2： Cancel her plan to the movies. She can cancel the plan, but she has been waiting all afternoon, so it is her roommate’s turn to wait. At the same time, the woman will feel guilty to miss the movie that she is supposed to watch.

Task 6.：History

Listening：The professor gives a lecture to illustrate the importance of stars to the ancient people.

First:

For example: Vikingson the sea used stars to tell the direction.
